Malta lets you begin in a simple bay and return for training or more ambitious dives later. Mellieħa is useful for the north and Ċirkewwa; Qawra and St Paul’s Bay provide more restaurants and transport. There are many centres, shore access is possible and non-divers have beaches, restaurants and a walkable seafront. Health and return flights

What beginners should plan before and after diving

Do not dive with a cold, congestion or ear pain without appropriate advice.
Answer the medical questionnaire honestly; some answers require medical clearance.
Avoid alcohol, dehydration and a very short night before the session.
Do not fly immediately after diving. Leave a margin that follows current safety guidance and the operator’s advice.
Use the final day for beaches, sightseeing or snorkelling instead of a late dive before a morning flight.
