The first hidden cost

Getting there and moving around

From Ljubljana, buses reach central Bled and are often more practical than Lesce-Bled railway station outside town. Some trains serve Bled Jezero on the opposite shore by another route. Compare door to door with luggage.

The lake circuit is walkable, but add detours, stops and climbs. The castle has a slope; Ojstrica and Mala Osojnica are real paths, sometimes steep and slippery.

For Vintgar use official information on admission, route, parking and shuttle. Operation may impose a direction, slot or separate return. Arrive with margin and water; do not assume an immediate taxi at the exit.

Day 1

Lake circuit, island and castle

Morning. Start along the east shore and walk towards Mlino according to light. Choose pletna or another boat once departures are clear.
